Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the query and supplies its results. Butler County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical information about the visit:
- Page-view timestamps
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is provided
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that activity into broader usage reports. You can block cookies through browser controls, although doing so may change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the selected search partner
- Maintaining site availability, speed, and operation
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Learning which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Butler County Court Docket does not host, maintain, assemble, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case information. It publishes general directions to records kept by the Circuit Clerk of Butler County, Alabama trial courts, and other official custodians. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Butler County Circuit Clerk, Alabama court portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may measure activity across websites to select ads. Their systems, not ours, perform that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving ads on the site
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal requirement
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If a minor has provided information, notify us so it can be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Rights over personal data can vary by place of residence. Alabama Code § 36-12-40, Alabama Rule of Judicial Administration 30, the electronic-record policy, and the Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality Rules govern access to official public or judicial records. They do not make visitor data held by this private site an official Butler County court record. At a minimum, you may:
- Request access to personal information held about you
- Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Object to certain forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
